Combining our passion and knowledge of vintage clothing plus Clare’s experience of owning/running a vintage business for over 7 years and Jo’s background as an author with four books already under her belt, we’ve produced a new book focusing on everyday, affordable, accessible vintage fashion.

The first part of the book looks at each decade/era in turn, featuring classic looks, some of which have been recreated from more modern pieces to keep things affordable, as well as lots of photos of lovely genuine vintage pieces. We look at day and evening outfits plus work wear and leisure wear across the decades.

There’s also tips on vintage styling and how to recreate the look of each era using old family photos as inspiration in the ‘Get The Look’ section. Looking at original photos is a great way of getting inspiration first hand!

There is also an amusing, fancy dress-style ‘Icon’ section. From our perspective of running a vintage shop, these are precisely the kind of outfit requests we get every day: cheap and cheerful, fun party looks! We’re not vintage snobs, we love all eras and styles, having fun, dressing up, playing with wigs and having a laugh! This section is a lighthearted look at the styles of film stars, characters or icons of each era and finding an outfit that recreates their look, with the kind of affordable, accessible pieces of clothing you’ll easily find in your local vintage shop.

The final part of the book looks at other people’s vintage-inspired style and we’ve had some fantastic contributions from gorgeous vintage bloggers including Vixen Vintage, Tickety Boo Tupney, and Tea With the Vintage Baroness and Sammy Davis – to name just a few! Our publishers Vivays also asked us to create some ‘Get the Look’ videos to accompany the launch of the book. They enlisted the services of filmmaker Ollie Jenkins to put them together.
