There’s just over a week to go until the WAVE 40s themed Vintage & Craft Fair (co-organised by Second Hand Rose).
July has been 40s Month on the the blog providing inspiration for 40s outfits for the fair!
Here we have some Land Girl inspired outfits for 40s month. The Women’s Land Army was created during WWI and WWII. Women were trained to work the land/on farms while men were away at war. Land Girls as they were more commonly known, had a distinctive uniform and we’ve recreated the basic style of them below.

We’ve used vintage Plus Fours (£10), with a khaki shirts (£8). Land Army uniforms traditionally had bottle green jumpers but these hand knitted beige jumpers (£8) work with the over all over all look, which has been accessorised with men’s vintage leather belt (£3) and headscarf for turban. This would best be worn with long green or khaki socks and flat brogues.

Funnily enough in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar they feature a tweedy land girl look in their round up of Autumn fashion. You could easily update this look and give it a contemporary fashion twist, by wearing the Plus Fours with heels and a silky camel blouse, as evening wear for instance!
